Belgian consumer curious for prestigious, natural and organic wines

In de the beginning of this Year (2013) Delhaize, one of the biggest wine retailers (and supermarkets) of Belgium invested in an interesting inquiry about consumer preferences (1000 respondants). One of the questions was: “Which wines would you like to discover?”

The answer: 1. Prestigious wines (54%), 2. Natural Wines (30%), 3. Fairtrade Wines (25%), 4. Organic Wines (21%).

This is a clear indication about the potential of natural and organic wines. At this moment the market share of organic wine is estimated at about 10%. One of the main raisons the sales aren’t higher is because the retail offer is too low. People just don’t find enough organic wines for sale on the shelves.
